INTERNfix #1

"If opportunity ever knocks at my door I'm always home to open it"

As former exchange students ourselves, we understand the amount of research that goes into preparing for a stay abroad, as well as the common difficulties and confusions that may arise.
With our combined experience, we are here to help ease your transition from one culture to another by creating an approachable, friendly and trustworthy community for young internationals in Madrid. What’s more, we provide many of our services for free to support you getting established in the city. We believe you should have access to the best of the best Madrid has to offer to you to get the most out of your stay. So what are you waiting for? Become a part of our Join the Citylife Madrid Community now! today!
Sometime literally ask and you receive. Given that I'm already working two jobs it may seem a bit of a handful to take something else on. I'll explain this is another post (well I have done already) but as a reminder my university modules were so messed up that I have essentially not been in uni much if not at all. Now with all this free time all I could think was how can I make this time useful, productive, beneficial even to my design career and goals. My two current jobs revolve around teaching which is definitely worth while as I am and have been looking into lecturing at some point in  my career. But obviously something geared towards graphic design at this stage would come in handy for my degree.

As the above reads CityLife is an organisation tailored to servicing students and international individuals. I had initially met the founder, on a trip to Portugal hosted by the company. This was the same trip that I had taken photos for whilst there. He was aware of what I studied but never did I think he would offer me and internship down the line. I had literally asked if they had positions available as I couldn't see anything online and we went from there. I was offered a position working/interning as social media/event manager & graphic designer. As it stands we are still finalising the formalities but work is already underway to complete the project. On my side it will be challenging, I have never done a placement or internship with an actual business. I had always shied away from it because I didn't think I had the skills I needed. Now was a time of growth and to see what I was really capable of and to reflect on how far I would have gone by the end.
