Mayors Welcome fair

"Dear student,
Please find attached an invitation to the Madrid Student Welcome Day, organized and promoted by Madrid City Council. The event will take place on Saturday, 10th of October, in GalerĂa de Cristal (Cibeles), from 11:00 am to 9:00 pm"

One thing I can definitely say is Madrid sure is caring. Initially when I received this email I though I had won something special. Not this time though, but it was nice to see that the city took pride in those visiting no matter what duration they were visiting for. As the email said "Madrid takes care of its people and receives visitors with open arms. I would like to invite you to try it out for yourself at the welcome party that we ́ve prepared: the “Madrid Student Welcome Day”, a day created especially for you to discover the ample resources, surprises, services, and cultural and leisure activities that this great city has to offer you, that is sure to make your stay with us a truly unforgettable one."

It was actually a proper event. You had to have tickets and ID before you could enter and my goodness did they have security! If you could picture how a freshers fair is, it was really similar to that but with a wider variety of things and freebies. They even gave away selfie sticks but I missed out on that. Nevertheless it was something I was glad I went to. There were different universities and institutions, language courses, tour guides and so much more to go through. It was definitely top in creating awareness about some of the activities and events that Madrid had to offer to its students and everyone else. In the background they had performances, drinks and raffles to get the crowd filled and entertained. Walking around the area you realise how connected Madrid is, everything is so close to each other. After the fair I ran a few errands here and there and went off home. Sieving through all the papers and freebies was a whole other mission but like I said it was all worth it.
