Your prescription...A weekend trip away

"So do I get a higher grade if I travel?"

To be fair I would like to think I'm a very well-behaved student likes to follow any instructions given, so when my lecturer told me take a trip to Brussels and go and explore I thought why not. He honestly said he recommended that the class travelled, so that we would be able to understand the theories and concepts architecture displays around the world much better. He always said "A powerpoint is not the same thing". Given that the student life had enabled me to know when and how to find extremely cheap flights it was very easy to book one of the trips he had recommended.

What made it even easier was the fact that I had no Friday classes and was able to book the flights for the weekend. I decided to visit Brussels, an educational trip and a treat for myself. Whilst I was there we were advised to visit Brugge in the North-west of Belgium. Known for its buildings and canals it was definitely worth the visit. My lecturers only request was to take photos and show that I had learnt something. 1 out of 2 wasn't so bad, my camera was stolen right at the beginning of the trip making it a little difficult to capture great photos but of course it was iPhone to the rescue.

It was definitely surreal seeing some of the buildings we have studied in class right in front of my eyes, it did make me appreciate the buildings a lot more as I understood the concepts behind the structures and could see that it more than aesthetics involved in their designs. It was almost like a game of spot the building. It was a trip worth my time.
