"I'm in porto why wouldn't I drink Port"
There were various activities and tours planned for us on arrival. I couldn't complain, it's obviously a great way to know the area you're visiting and it's just always surprising what kind of stories and history a place holds. After a 2/3 hour tour of lots of walking, talking and climbing it was time to do participate in the crowd favourite. Wine tasting. It appeared as though one stark difference so it seemed between Madrid and Porto is that, nothing is really close to each other. Given that in Madrid you can walk though some of the metro lines Porto was a lot more spread out. After ending the tour and sitting for what felt like 2 seconds (bearing in mind we hadn't slept properly yet I don't think sleeping on the coach counted) we were off again.
So many perks to life. I think most people dislike wine until a certain point. I definitely can't think of any younger people who would opt for wine over vodka. And so here I was feeling all kinds of excited because I was about to have some good wine (although a nap would have been perfect after it) The tour and information was given to us by lady at the vineyard, the barrels were huge.! And to learn about the ageing process of their port wine. We then went on to the other half of the building we were treated to an option of to port wines; one white and one red (and one mix thanks to the lovely guy with us). It was honestly some of the best wine I had ever had Obviously one had to be purchased it was so sweet I just couldn't not get it. It was a really nice way to also get to know the group a little more intimately I guess wine (good wine) brings people together too.
